Frostbite Studios is the software development studio at Frostbite Companies Limited.
We build web applications, platforms and the infrastructure underneath them. Some of that work is for organizations here in the Northwest Territories; a good deal of it is not. Software does not care where it is written, but it does carry the assumptions of the place it was written in — and ours are northern ones.
That turns out to be useful. Building where connections are slower and support is further away pushes you toward software that is light, resilient and genuinely operable. Those are not northern virtues. They are just virtues, and the North makes them impossible to skip.
We are a small studio and we intend to stay one. It means we take on fewer projects, and the people you talk to are the people writing the code.

Built for the long winter
Software is judged over years, not at launch. We optimize for the version of the system that exists two years from now, when someone else is changing it under pressure.

Clarity over cleverness
A clever solution that only its author understands is a liability. We write code meant to be read, and we would rather explain a decision than defend it.

Northern by default
We build from Yellowknife, on northern bandwidth, at northern latitudes. Performance and offline behaviour are not afterthoughts here — they are daily conditions.

Honest scope
We would rather tell you a thing is not worth building than bill you for it. Scope that reflects reality is cheaper for everyone than scope that reflects optimism.
